Ideas for Newsletters

If you are stuck for a newsletter idea, take some time to think about what exactly you want to get across with your publication. If you are a business, it would be wise to offer prospective customers information about your company's services, sales, and other offers. A non-profit organization may use the newsletter to alert readers to events and achievements as well as appeal for volunteers and donations.

Newsletter Design Made Simple

There's no need to reinvent the wheel every time you want to send a new issue of your newsletter. Thanks tonewsletter templates, you can use a set format to simply type in updated stories. The Basics of Newsletters

Want to reach a group of people with updates about your business, your organization, or even your personal achievements? Why not create a newsletter? If your news is ongoing -- rather than a one-time announcement -- newsletters are the perfect way to get your message across on a regular basis.

Lead With Top Stories, Then...

Learn from the best daily newspapers: Your editorial or a message from the CEO should have a regular spot after the lead items. In-house news should have a regular spot much further in. This gives you the best chance of competing for attention, while those familiar with your newsletter know where to find what they want.

B2B Newsletters

If you are creating a business-to-business (B2B) newsletter, an important factor to consider is the open rate. Be sure your newsletter is not delivered to the recipients' junk mail folder. This will almost certainly guarantee your document being deleted before it's opened. Check current spam laws to see how to avoid being junk filed.

Don't Forget Your Thank Yous

A good idea is to have an acknowledgements section of your newsletter. Name the contributors in each issue, with a brief bio and contact information (if they would like). That way, you recognize others' hard work and inspire more subscribers to contribute to your publication.

All the Bells and Whistles

As important as it is for your copy to be clean and crisp in your newsletter, it is just as important not to overload your publication with large graphic files and/or animation. Not only do these items distract readers' attention, they make your newsletter harder to open. If they have to wait too long, many subscribers will simply delete the document while waiting for it to open.

Reader Feedback

Whenever possible, keep track of reader responses to your issues. Either provide a feedback email address or periodically offer a survey for readers to fill out. Pay attention to the results! It's a fast and free way to make your newsletter the best it can be.
